- TOURNAMENT READY:While these Staunton style chessmen meet the World Chess Federation (FIDE) and US Chess Federation’s (USCF) height and proportions standards for tournament play, they are anything but traditional! King measures 3.75 inches tall with a 1.438 inch diameter base. The bright assortment of colors bring fun to a serious game of chess. These are an excellent option for those who get tired of the boring black and white pieces and are looking for something different and more cheerful!
- HALF SET: The set comes with one color only (17 pieces - Half a set), so be sure to select TWO of your favorite colors if you are looking for a complete set of chessmen. Have a set of black and white chess pieces already? Then just buy one set of another color to give you more options! These pieces are unweighted, but 90% plastic filled which makes them heavier than plastic pieces that are completely hollow, and they feature felt bottoms.
- TRADITIONAL: The Staunton design has become the standard for tournament play. Knights resemble the head and neck of a horse. Kings are the tallest pieces featuring a cross atop a closed crown. Queens are slightly smaller than the kings and feature a coronet topped with a small ball. Rooks feature castle battlements, and bishops resemble a liturgical headdress of a western church. Pawns are the smallest and are topped by a plain ball.
