Via Canada F-40 3pc. Wooden Toy Train Set VIA GMD F40PH-2 locomotive. It is VIA's mainstay engine. VIA upgraded its F40 fleet to HED (head end power) power generators in 2012. This allows the locomotive to supply power for light, heat, and air conditioning to various passenger cars. The passenger cars are LRC (light, rapid, comfortable) (leger, rapide, et confortable in French). The cars service the Ontario and Quebec Provinces and are the backbone of VIA Rail's services in those provinces. The cars were designed to operate at 125 mph but are limited to 100 mph or less due to track conditions and freight train use.
