Get it all...

It’s a dawn of a new era at WantItAll. Everyone has become so accustomed to newsletters and blogs being used as selling objects, that everyone has lost the plot. Companies have become so focused on their product, that they want to sell it instantaneously to the first person they can reach. This has led to newsletters becoming selling instruments. Customers have become desensitized to newsletters because companies are misusing their ability to communicate with their customers.

What are we going to do about it?

This is a serious issue for us at WantItAll, as we believe customers want things now, but do not want to be bombarded into being told what they want and how they want it. Customers want choice, without being told how to get it, and when to get it. That is when deals become threats, and when companies get ignored. With this in mind, we have decided to restructure our newsletters and blogs to become more informative and more interactive, as well as center our first topic around this. We value your opinion, and encourage you to mail us your views. Give us your say, let it be known!

How to get it all… The world has opened up to instant gratification. Instant food, instant diagnosis, instant shopping, instant relationships – instant you name it, and we want it….now! The problem is just this – we have forgotten all about choice. The first thing we find that serves our need, we grab with both hands, don’t share and don’t let go of. Even spirituality has become instant. We search for purpose instantly, and want the perfect life instantly. Talking about searching, even a web search that takes longer than a second frustrates us.

Think about it.

You’re sitting in traffic, the light is green, and the car in front of you takes more than a second to pull away from the green light, and what do you think?

“Idiot! Drive already!”

That’s exactly how life has gotten. We want it now, we want it all, and we do NOT care how we get it. A solution to the problem is available, and its simple – it’s all about choice. The complete opposite of instant gratification is deferred gratification. This can be explained as the ability to wait in order to obtain something that one wants. This ability is usually considered to be a personality trait which is important for life success.

Eckhart Tolle - A new Earth

In Eckhart Tolle’s new book (featured extensively on Oprah) A New Earth. In essence he says:

"People believe themselves to be dependent on what happens for their happiness, that is to say, dependent on form. They don't realize that what happens is the most unstable thing in the universe. It changes constantly. They look upon the present moment as either marred by something that has happened and shouldn't have or as deficient because of something that has not happened but should have. And so they miss the deeper perfection that is inherent in life itself, a perfection that is always already here, that lies beyond what is happening or not happening, beyond form."

It can be said that our striving for instant gratification is a seeking for happiness, when in actual fact we are gaining the absolute opposite – total exhaustion. So here is the right option, let’s take life a bit slower, not as seriously, and with a tad of humour. Let’s increase our quality of life, not our quantity in speed. Our quality of life will thus not be dependent on our ability to get what we want immediately, but to get everything we want, at exactly the right time, and at exactly the right moment.
