2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa to be released on iPhone

2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa to be released on iPhone

EA Sports showcased their upcoming Fifa title at the Game Developers’ Conference (GDC) held in San Fransisco last month with the first trailer of the game. Developers unveiled their intentions to drop the game not only on the predictable Xbox and PlayStation 3 consoles, but also the iPhone.

The miniature version of the game is to be released in April ahead of the World Cup. A playable version of the game will also be released for the iPod Touch. This comes after a recent announcement by EA that they intend on creating a new range of fitness games for the iPhone and PS3. Although the details as to how a fitness game on the iPhone will work, there are rumours of a retail console pack that comes replete with heart-rate monitoring technology.

In an EA promotional event for the 2010 FIFA game, Wayne Rooney, number 10 for the England national team, was pitted against FIFA gaming champ Matt. Considered by some to be the world’s greatest player, Rooney was seen gesturing wildly and staring closer and closer at the screen as passes were missed and tackles failed amidst a crowd cheering on the footballer to win it for England. Despite his distaste for losing, Rooney gracefully acceded to his 1-0 defeat (against Spain) in the very public battle. Almost 2,500 people pitched up for the event.

EA Sports Active 2.0 set for release across numerous platforms will be available around August this year. Pre-order 2010 FIFA World Cup for PS3 from WantItAll today for an April delivery.
