The last week was just proof of that again. Sallyanne Mokwebo from Wantitall went out of her way to help me with my orders. She did not hesitate to do what she could to help me with a problem (an annoying one, I would think, especially when working with many orders from many people) regarding my orders with matters that had nothing to do with Wantitall, but rather with customs. She was very informative, quick to respond, polite and really did go out of her way to help me.

Ubisoft controls Assassins Creed 2 PC

Ubisoft controls Assassins Creed 2 PC

In an attempt to prevent piracy, Ubisoft have defaulted Assassins Creed 2 on PC to require an internet connection and registration. If there is no connection to the net, the game boots you off until such time as you can connect which has gamers outraged.

The PC version of the infamously popular game was given to reviewers last weekend (the public will only receive their Windows edition mid-March). The problem with the draconian DRM is not so much connecting to play the game but the poor internet connection that freezes up the game. That’s right! The game locks you out without saving if you lose your internet connection and thus the connection to one of the French gaming studios DRM servers.

The solid internet connection enables Ubisoft to monitor legitimate copies of the game as opposed to those who have either copied it or illegally downloaded it. The server regularly checks in to make sure all is okay, like a referee which could reduce piracy. Unlikely.

Bloggers complained the web-over that the DRM will only push pirates to find more ingenious ways to pirate the game while angering all loyal consumers. Inevitably PC sales will drop while PS3 and XBox condoles sale increase. Well done Ubisoft.
