StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty

Expansion pack underway before StarCraft II launches

Even ahead of the game’s release, StarCraft II creators are already promising an expansion pack. The game is currently in the beta-testing stage and set for its mid-year release for Blizzard entertainment. Lead producer Chris Sigaty told Shcknews.com that developers are working around the clock to reach the deadline.

According to Sigaty there’s a bit of creative content left (such as art, mission, sound etc) and the game still needs to be polished and some things clarified. He assures gamers though that, although there’s a lot still to do, programmers are within a few months of having a completed project.

Not even finished developing the full game, and Sigaty is already speaking of starting the expansion pack in the next few weeks. “We’ll have people transitioning in the next few weeks to begin that process [of the expansion pack]”, he said. As the team starts finishing off their work and eliminating the bugs, more and more will move onto the expansion pack.

Sigaty estimates about 18 months between the release of the game “Wings of Liberty” and the first StarCraft II expansion pack. Other expansion packs such as WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne, took only 12 months to produce, but “Wings of Liberty” has raised the bar so there’s a lot more to do with StarCraft II’s expansions.

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is available for pre-order locally from WantItAll for the Best Price of R823.
