After being admitted into The Priory, London-based psychiatric clinic, after she lost the British reality TV show to a troupe of dancers, the Scottish Internet sensation Susan Boyle comes back with the most pre-ordered CD in Amazon’s history. The reality star’s debut album “I Dreamed a Dream” will be released for Christmas sales.
Now that the album has been recorded and the hype is dying down, audiences are wondering is SuBo is more than just a one reality show wonder. The album offers a plethora of genres that not even Michael Bublé could range together, which gives it a bit of a disarrayed feel. From ballads and hymns to pop music, Boyle does it all with as much ease as one can expect from a reality star. Her vocals are get a bit shaky in places, but overall she manages the album with her smooth and pretty voice.
The title track, “I Dreamed a Dream” from “Les Miserable” still carries the characteristic SuBo quality perhaps because of the reflection the song has in her own life, portraying a person in the throws of disappointment. Her voice is capable, but not a belter.
Her voice is less outstanding than her unsuspected performance on Britain’s Got Talent which is why she’s the much-loved anti-hero heroine. While she boycotts Britney Spears’ image, she might not beat her off the top of the charts.
Susan Boyle’s I dreamed a dream is available on WantItAll.
