Barbie scores a point with Team Jacob
Team Jacob levels the playing field over Team Edward in the Twilight saga’s fan base, thanks to Mattel and Barbie . The toy manufacturer has produced a Jacob Black (played by Taylor Lautner in the film adaptations), in Barbie form, to complement the Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella (Kristen Stwewart) Barbies.
The complete, supernatural love triangle is now complete – with each characters special… erm, traits, standing out. Jacob’s chiseled chest, rock hard abs and schoolboy smile above a pair of ripped jeans give the doll that authentic New Moon feel.
Jacob’s pre-transformation phase appearance, along with the wolf pack tattoo and adolescent fetish for sneakers, make for a perfect Jacob – sans “russet” skin colour. Looks like Mattel put in a tad too much Edward in the paint mix to capture the nature of the Quileute Barbie.
Edward and Bella, however, get to spend a couple more months on the shelves without their third wheel as the doll is only being released in February 2010, around the same time as the New Moon DVD release. Until then, Team Jacob will have to console themselves with the notion that soon Jacob will be theirs to own
