The Gabriel Method: All you can eat diet

The Gabriel Method: All you can eat diet

There as many dupes falling for quick fix diet programmes as they are millionaires they’re sponsoring. The Gabriel Method however, is not a diet. It’s a method. Whereas diet programmes recommend certain types of food and eating plans, this method recommends eating as a cure for being overweight.

Author Jon Gabriel claims to be 100 kg lighter as a result of understanding his body and its hunger signals. Without special dieting, exercise or drugs, claims Gabriel, one can reduce weight by interpreting the body’s signals correctly. Stress, crash diets and junk food fool our bodies into thinking they’re starving, causing it to crave more food and then stores every bit it gets.

Gabriel noticed that indigenous people from colder climates were fatter, as the fat acted as insulation. Indigenous people from sunnier climes were naturally thinner. The key then, according to this method, is to fool your body into thinking it’s in a tropical climate.

By replacing junk food with vitamin-rich food, Gabriel’s body no longer craved bad food. The idea then is to eat as much natural food as possible. This means you don’t have to cut down on the amount you eat, but eat good food instead of junk food when your body craves it.

The book, The Gabriel Method, is less of a dieting manual than it is an autobiography of how Jon Gabriel lost his weight. Eating only natural foods is great, but that’s not to say exercise and fitness don’t play their part.
