Movies about Blackjack
Despite the controversy caused by the casting and the overblown style of the book it was based on,
Bringing Down the House, the fact reamins that
21 the Movie is probably what attracted many new players to blackjack since it was first released in 2008. 21 is about a student at MIT, Ben, who is invited by a slightly sketchy professor, Prof Micky Rosa, to join the card counting team he is drilling. Ben becomes a big player on this team, and as soon as they hit the casino they begin to rake in absurd amounts of cash. Things are looking up for Ben, but then the team starts getting hounded by a relentless and violent security agent, and their extra-curricular activities suddenly become a whole lot more dangerous.</p>
<p>It isn't just the big amounts of money and the Hollywood effects in 21 that drew people to blackjack, it's the fact that minus the lack of Asian team members in the movie, it's based on a real story. There was an MIT team, they did win millions, and just about every member in unable to show their face in a casino anymore without getting thrown out.
