The three original films were so popular that it spawned a cult following necessitating three newer prequels and an animated series to fill in the gaps for viewers who can’t get enough. According to Thomas Dolby, the composer of Star Wars creator’s, George Lucas’, film scores, said on his personal blog that Star Wars-related TV series and online game are in the cards, proving that fans still haven’t had enough.
While no official comment has been released, Dolby also mentioned a upcoming movie in a string of other franchise related content. There is however no mention as to what the new film would feature or what story line it would follow.
With the original series ending in the balance and the prequels elaborating on the birth of Luke and his twin sister Princess Leia, the film series can only go forward – that is, into the future. Die-hard fans recommend that the film follow the 19 novels (The New Jedi Order), taking characters from the universe of the films with an expanded universe. The books follow about 21 years after the events in the final film – The Return of the Jedi. This gap leaves a nice prequel opening for post-new-hypothetical film release.
