Beyblade
Beyblade
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by
Takao Aoki the series focused on a group of kids who form teams with
which they battle one another using highly powerful spinning tops
called "Beyblades" which are enchanted with magical spirits. This manga
series was adapted into a three season anime series. The first season,
spanning 51 episodes, aired in Japan on TV Tokyo from January 8, 2001
to December 24, 2001. The second season, Beyblade
V-Force ran for another 51 episodes from January 7, 2002 until
December 30, 2002. The third season, Beyblade
G Revolution, spanned 52 episodes and ran from January 6,
2003 until its conclusion on December 29, 2003. All three seasons are
licensed for English adaptation, broadcast, and release in North
America by Nelvana.
A re-boot of the Beyblade anime series; Beyblade:
Metal Fusion (known as Metal Fight Beyblade in
Japan), premiered on TV Tokyo on April 5, 2009. Despite its low
Japanese ratings but high toy sales, these beyblade tops are developed
and manufactured by Hasbro Both the toys and their name were inspired
by "Beigoma", a traditional spinning top. In the basic rules of the
game matches, called Beybattles by official
terminology, one player wins by knocking the competitor's Beyblade out
of a dish, commonly called a Beystadium, or to outspin
the competing top(s) (whereby the top that stops spinning first
loses). Hasbro's version of the Beystadium is enclosed and has "penalty
pockets" which are able to stop the Beyblade from spinning, but the
top may come back out. The game utilizes Launchers that are wound up
using a Ripcord, attached to the Beyblade using special grooves on Spin
Gear and its successive plastic counterparts, and to the Bit
Protector/Face Bolt for the later metal Beyblades, then launched into
the Beystadium after the call of "3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!"("3, 2, 1, Go
Shoot!" in Japan)
The aim of the game is to have the last standing spinning Beyblade.
This can be achieved by: making the opposing Beyblade(s) stop spinning,
knocking the opposing Beyblades(s) out of the BeyStadium, simply
having the longest spinning Beyblade, or the other blade breaking apart,
achieved through the Beyblade's endurance, attack, and defense.
