Photos of late Marlon Brando surface in Italy and rural England
Late American bad-boy Marlon Brando of Apocalypse Now and The Godfather fame, is teaming up with the late Anthony Quinn (Zorba the Greek and Lawrence of Arabia) in a new exhibition of rare and unseen photographs. The estate of infamous New York photographer Sam Shaw has been collaborating with Brando Enterprises and the Anthony Quinn Foundation to bring fans of the stars an all-new exposition: The Rebels at the Museo Nazionale del Cinema in Turin Italy.
The exhibition features over 100 images of the Hollywood giants by photographer Sam Shaw and will be, according to Brando Enterprises’ boss Larry Dressler, a stunning collection of work from Hollywood’s Golden Era and Marlon’s legacy. Not the only photographs of Brando to make a contemporary appearance, protestors in a quiet corner of rural England, have uncovered a picture of Marlon with his godson and are using it to prevent developers from constructing industrial storage.
The Village of Selling, with its Tudor and Georgian architecture, is campaigning against the construction of storage facilities in the area, which was, according to Brando’s personal assistant Caroline Barrett, a favourite haunt of the actor. The picture of him and his grandson was taken while on a walk down Owens Court Lane against a backdrop of green shrubbery. Sources who were close to the star say that he visited the are for a weekend in 1986, but loved it so much that he ended up staying for six months.
Before his death, Brando said he wanted to visit the area again. Local residents are using the image to prevent the construction which they fear will have detrimental impact on the area and increase road danger.
