Vaio i7
Your ultimate full
HD studio, this is how Sony describes its 16.4 inch F11Y1E/BI
notebook. And indeed you will have the honor of dealing with a luxury
model if you own one, which will find it easy to satisfy your appetite
for a high-end multimedia device made possible by its hardware. The Core
i7-720QM processor, 8.192 MB of RAM, GeForce GT 330M graphics card,
and Blu-ray writer (BD-R/RE) will let any tekkies heart beat faster.
Real studio-feeling only comes up when mentioning the display
configuration though. Sony included a matte 16.4 inch TFT display, with
good viewing angles, and strong colors.
he Vaio Z series is a line of high-end notebook computers from Sony
introduced in July/August 2008 to replace the Sony
Vaio SZ series range (lower end SZ models could also be considered
to be replaced by the Sony VAIO SR series), as a part of the Intel
Centrino 2 launch. As with the SZ, the Z has hybrid graphics, this time
with NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS as well as Mobile Intel 4 Series Express
4500MHD chipsets. The user can switch between the Nvidia (for better
graphics performance) and Intel (for longer battery life) at the touch
of a button.
Custom Z series models which are built with a hard disk (e.g.
non-SSD) and no optical drive are manufactured with a standard 2.5" hard
disk fitted into the empty optical bay. These models can have the hard
disk replaced by a standard 2.5" SSD. The adapter in the optical bay
expects a 12.7mm high 2.5" drive. At least some 2.5" SSD drives (such
as the Intel X-25e) are 9mm models. Proper fitting requires a shim (a
piece of cardboard about 4mm thick cut to the shape of the drive will
do).
Sony didn't save on interfaces and offers the complete spectrum of
current connections. As well as Ethernet and VGA, there is an HDMI output.
The HDMI output can be used for connecting to a television to provide
audio and video. This appears useful for many games, but this port is
interesting also for professional users. An ExpressCard34 slot is also
on board. With this it is possible to connect external devices such as
sound cards, storage devices, or TV cards.
