“Firefly” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” creator Joss Whedon may be directing “The Avengers” screen adaptation. According to brother Zack Whedon – collaborator on “Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along-Blog” – Joss will be directing the Marvel film adaptation of the comic book that sees Iron Man, Thor and Captain America join forces for the first time.
Rumours that Joss is to direct the mega-blockbuster film have been circulating since April last year when he was in final negotiations. Recently Zack was quoted in an interview as saying that they are looking to doing a sequel for “Dr Horrible” but “some of us have tentatively agreed to helm an all-star mega-blockbuster summer tent-pole extravaganza movie to be released in 2012.” In the time being, those other collaborators of the online musical are keeping busy with TV scripts.
Dr Horrible female lead, Felicia Day was also reported as saying that Joss is the best director for the long-awaited all-star movie “The Avengers” because no one knows comics better than him. In fact, there is no one better equipped to handle such an epic, said Day.
Iron Man 2 director Jon Farveau has also given his blessing for Joss to take the helm of “The Avengers”.
